Upon the recommendation of the Search Committee, and with the support of the
Executive Committee, on August 11, 2009, Dr. Dennis Long was issued the call to become
the Director of Missions of the Wilmington Baptist Association by the unanimous vote
of the General Board.

Since 2003 Dr. Long has been the Senior Pastor of the Olive Chapel Baptist Church at
Apex, NC. In addition, he has served one other church as Pastor, and two others as
Minister to Youth, Outreach, and Education. He is the son and grandson of Baptist
Pastors.

Dr. Long earned hs Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice at
UNC-Wilmington; his Mastor of Divinity Degree at Campbell University Divinity School,
his Doctorate of Ministry Degree in Apologetics under Norman Geisler at Southern
Evangelical Seminary.

In addition to other training and certifications, Dr. Long has completed the Director of
Missions Training Course provided by the North American Missions Board of the
Southern Baptist Convention.

He is married to Lisa McIntosh Long who earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in
Nursing as well has her Master of Nursing in Family Practitioner Degree at
UNC-Wilmington. While students at UNC-W they were active in BSU. They have two
daughters, Marie and Meadow.
